What is cPanel and what does it control about my website?

Server cPanel Access: cPanel is a server control panel for your "YOURWEBSITE.COM" web account. It allows you to make modifications and customizations to e-mail accounts, ftp and has access to many other additional tools to help you develop, manage and maintain your web site along with 2 types of web site statistic programs. The cPanel is a kin to STARTLOGIC\'s (vDeck3.0) but a real-world panel. Not like an AOL thing, or made for kids or grandma\'s to use. Its a pro web server interface used all over the world in 80% of all LINUX servers. The (cPanel) login can be accessed through your (client area)  http://www.yourwebsite.com/billing/whmcs/index.php or you can always use (as the pros do) replacing "YOURWEBSITE.COM" with your website name http://www.yourwebsite.com:2082  notice the (:2082) or http://www.yourwebsite.com/cpanel  notice the (/cpanel). The last two examples are direct server port access points. To access your cPanel directly, you will need your server user name and password. The one that was originally emailed to you upon sign up for web hosting.

What directory do I need to upload my website to?

In order for people to view any content on your account you will need to upload all of your files into the public_html directory. This is the only directory on your account that is viewable by anyone on the Internet.

How do I access my cPanel?

How do I access my cPanel? You can get to your control panel by going to http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel/ or http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel. Your cPanel can also be accessed from the Client Area (http://www.yourdomain.com/my/).
  1. Click "My Hosting Packages"
  2. Click "View Details" for the hosting account.
  3. Click "Login to cPanel"

How can I get a website online?

The first thing you need is to get a hosting company, like us, to host your website on servers where other people can access your website. You then need to select the correct package based on your needs. You also need to choose your domain name, for example “domain.co.za” or “domain.com” etc. Once you’ve registered with us we will send you all your account details you need to upload and manage your website. If your website is not too big you may also mail or send your site to us and we will gladly upload your website. Don’t worry though, we would be happy to go through the entire process with you until your website is done

How do I create a new email?

To set up an e-mail account in log in to your cPanel via our website or through www.yourdomain.co.za/cpanel. In cPanel look for the Mail section. Underneath that click on Email Accounts. Type in the login(username) that you want for your account and then the password. You can even create a quota that will only allow that amount of data to be stored on that e-mail account for a certain user. When you’re done, click “Create”. To login to your e-mail account go to www.yourdomain.co.za/webmail in your browser. Please note that the username you use must be the e-mail address that your trying to access for example: example@domain.co.za and then your password. You may also use the login on the Real Webspace website. Just type in your e-mail address and password, select webmail and click on Login. You can also use Outlook, Mozilla Firebird or any other third party mail client to send and receive mail. Your POP3 and SMTP settings are included in the welcome mail that you got when u signed up with us. You will need them when setting up your e-mail client.

Why can't I send mail from my computer but I can receive mail just fine?

This is normally caused by one of two things. Either your email client does not have authentication turned on for sending mail to the outgoing mail server or your ISP is blocking your ablity to send email to 3rd party mail servers. Make sure you have the authentication turned on and if you still can not send email please contact your ISP to see if they block your ablity to send outgoing email on port 25. You can try changing port 25 to port 26, we have enabled port 26 as a work around for this issue.

Who owns the domain?

You pay for the domain, so the domain remains your property. We simply register the domain on your behalf. One you have made payment the domain is yours for one year. If you choose not to renew the next year the domain will become available once again.

Can I view my website even though your hosting says its Linux?

Yes, you will be able to view your website! The majority of websites on the internet are hosted on the Linux platform. Windows hosting is common when a website is written in ASP. Linux hosting is common when the website is written in HTML and PHP.

Which reference do I use when making payment?

You can use your invoice number as written on the invoice you have received, alternatively you can enter your full name, company name or your domain name. All of these can be picked up and allocated to your account

I purchased a hosting plan, now what do I do?

After you’ve signed up for a package, you will receive a Welcome E-mail signifying the activation of your account with us. The activation is almost instant. This e-mail contains all the information you need to get started. Please note that this gives you access to our servers, but your domain name may not be active yet. Access to our servers allows you to upload your files and get everything ready like your e-mail accounts and so on. You will also receive a temporarily URL where you can view your uploaded website. The domain activation e-mail also comes with the first invoice. Our banking details are attached on the invoice. Once you’ve made payment, we will register your domain with the registrar. This process takes less a few hours to propagate and then you will be able to view your website through your domain name in a browser

How long does it take to register my domain

A .co.za domain takes close to 2 hours for the domain to be up and running (to propagate). A .com, .org, .net domain will be visible in 6-48 hours from it being registered.

Can I host multpiple domain names with my hosting account?

Yes you may! We allow limited parked domains for some of our packages. Additionally you can have as many hosting accounts as possible.

Do you offer a money back guarantee?

Yes! We ensure that the process to sign up is easy and the product speaks for itself. If you feel that our product is not up to your standard and you wish to cancel we would be happy to refund you

What kind of Web Hosting Plan do I need?

The key to your plan is always the disk space and bandwidth that you need. Our four main packages are as follows Our Static Grey Account is ideally suited for a new start-up business, it’s good for a reasonably sized website and multiple email accounts. It is also suitable for lots of traffic and to the site The Dynamic Black is great for up to a Gigabyte of web space and relevant bandwidth. It’s best for the business that is growing or that needs significant space. Medium sized companies use our Business Blue, it includes more than enough disk space for all your web pages and databases. The bandwidth will be enough for loads of visits and unlimited email accounts. For the super business we offer the Super Silver package, for the big site with big bandwidth requirements, but remember you can always upgrade or downgrade any of the packages anytime and the effects are almost immediate.

How do I transfer my website to your server?

You can upload your files, set up your email addresses, etc. Then, when it’s all 100% ready, you can change the DNS name server info for your domain to the ones for our hosting service (they are mentioned in your welcome letter) and then in 24-72 hours your domain should switch over and start working on our servers. The Control Panel is a simple solution to managing all your web content, we can assist by downloading all your cpanel content and then uploading it to our servers without interrupting your business at all. What tools can I use to build my own website?

We have the RVsitebuilder and numerous other platforms that can easily integrate with your Control Panel to help you build your own website. We also have great in-house designers that can design awesome sites for you at really competitive prices. RVSitebuilder is in your cPanel, under Softaculous you will find various other scripts and software to get your website up and running. We highly recommend Wordpress which is also under Softaculous in the cpanel but if you prefer, you can also use Joomla content management, you can also set up a Joomla website from Softaculous in cPanel.

What does free domain registration mean?

Free domain registration means you will not pay a domain renewal or registration fee. This means whether you buy a .com or .co.za domain it is completely FREE, but this only applies to the Black and Blue Packages.

Can I access emails when I’m travelling?

Yes you can. You can access your emails through our webmail system from anywhere in the world with a web connection. For example: www.yourdomain.co.za/webmail Otherwise you can go to our homepage and log in with the Client Login

What are name servers (DNS)?

When you type in www.realwebspace.co.za on your browser, your computer finds the address www.realwebspace.co.za by asking the DNS servers. The DNS servers (also known as name servers) essentially tell browsers where to find a site. (It is actually far more complicated than that, but that is 80% of their function). Also when you register a new domain the domain name has to propagate through the internet and all DNS servers, that’s why it takes a couple of hours before your domain name is active and available on the internet.
